Competitive Program Structure

Developmental

(ODP)

The developmental program (ODP) is a program for girls between 4 and 8 years old that prepare young gymnasts physically, technically and mentally for entrance into the Gymnastics Ontario Competitive Program and/or the Pre-Novice National Program. Entrance in the program is by invitation only.

TRAINING DETAILS
Age 4-6
6hrs/week (3 x 2hrs) or (2X3hrs)
Age 6-7 9hrs/week (3 x 3hr)
12hrs/week (3 x 4hrs)
Age 8 16hrs/week (4 x 4hrs)

COMPETITIONS
2-3 ODP
(Ontario Developmental Program) per season.

COMMITMENT
This is a 12 month commitment
. Regular season training hours are consistent from September to June. Training hours change in July and August season. Minor schedule changes may occur due to holidays and competition.

xcel

The focus of the Xcel program is to build strength and flexibility while learning basic gymnastics skills that are incorporated into competitive routines and exercises. This program is more relaxed than the traditional competitive programs as it does not require athletes to perform compulsory routines. Entrance is by invitation only and subject to evaluation.

TRAINING DETAILS
Athletes attend 6 to 9 hours of training per week.
6hrs Interclub train 2 x 3hrs/week

9hrs Interclub train 3 x 3hrs/week.

COMPETITIONS
2-3 Competitions
per year (2 local and 1 out of town)

COMMITMENT
This is a 12 month commitment
. Regular season training hours are consistent from September to June. Training hours change in July and August season. Minor schedule changes may occur due to holidays and competition.

level 3-5

Levels 3, 4 and 5 are compulsory levels. Athletes in the program may participate at invitational competitions or provincial qualifiers. This means that to compete these levels, the gymnast must learn specific routines on each event. Competitions are judged on how well each gymnast performs the skill, in addition to how well she performs the routine. Entrance is by invitation only.

TRAINING DETAILS
Athletes attend 12 to 16 hours of training per week.
12hrs train 3 x 4hrs/week

16hrs train 4 x 4hrs/week.

COMPETITIONS
Athletes competing in the qualifier system have 3 qualifiers. If qualified they will be able to participate in Ontario Championships.
Interclub athletes will be competing at 3 to 4 competitions. (2 local, 1 out of town and USA competitions are a possibility)

COMMITMENT
This is a 12 month commitment
. Regular season training hours are consistent from September to June. Training hours change in July and August season. Minor schedule changes may occur due to holidays and competition.

level 6-10

Provincial athletes train 16-25 hours per week and compete at the Provincial level. They compete at 3-4 Provincial qualifying competitions to qualify to compete at the Provincial Championships and Eastern Canadian Championships. Other opportunities to compete may involve traveling to invitational competitions in Canada and possibly the United States. Athletes are selected from the pre-competitive and interclub programs.

TRAINING DETAILS
Athletes attend 16-25 hours per week in 4h or 5h training sessions.

COMPETITIONS
The Provincial Championships allow these gymnasts an opportunity to compete for both individual and team awards at provincial qualifiers and invitational competitions in Canada and possibly the United States.

OTHER COMPETITIVE PROGRAMS

ASPIRE PROGRAM
This is a very intense program requiring a great deal of physical and mental focus. These athletes must demonstrate discipline, strong work ethic and incredible athletic ability to handle the mandate of high level gymnastics. The athlete must also demonstrate the artistry and quality of performance to achieve excellence in the National program. National level athletes train 25+ hours per week and have a modified school program to accommodate their training. Our athletes compete at various Ontario competitions throughout the year and have the opportunity to compete nationally as well as internationally.

HIGH PERFORMANCE
This program is designed for athletes 11+ that wish to pursue gymnastics at the highest level striving to be a member of the National team to represent Canada on the international stage. There are 3 age categories within this level, High performance Novice, Junior and Senior. These athletes dedicate 25+ hours each week and represent strong athletic ability, competitive intensity, and discipline to persevere through challenges, are courageous and have the desire to excel. To attain HP status an athlete must attend Elite Canada and achieve a high ranking in their specific age category.
